Toronto Police Arrest a Man and Woman in a Child Sexual Abuse Investigation, Hundreds of Charges Laid

In January 2020, the Toronto Police Service began an investigation into a man and woman. The nature and scope of the allegations led to a joint investigation with members from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre, Child Exploitation Section, and 55 Division.

It is alleged that:

– over the last 17 years, a man and a woman committed multiple sexual and physical assaults against men, women and children

– these offences took place in the Danforth Avenue/Dawes Road and Danforth Road/Eglinton Avenue East areas of Toronto

– many of these assaults were recorded and uploaded to the Internet

Martin Mark Wettlaufer, 37, of Toronto, and Kathleen Wardlaw, 42, of Toronto, have been arrested and charged with hundreds of offences relating to the allegations listed above.

To date, charges have been laid in relation to 41 victims. Police have a number of unidentified victims and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying them.
