Scarborough Players: Celebrating 60 years on Stage

by Erin Jones

Great live theatre is a great find in Toronto and thankfully, Scarborough residents don’t have to go far for great live entertainment.  Scarborough Players celebrates its 60th anniversary of producing comedies, dramas, and mysteries with great reviews for 60 years.
Scarborough Players performs out of Scarborough Village Theatre (SVT) and partners with two other theatre groups through Theatre Scarborough.  60th anniversary celebrations are planned during this season to honour volunteers and to thank patrons for their dedication.

Scarborough Players is pleased to announce the launch of a new hearing loop system at the theatre located at 3600 Kingston Road.  This system installation has been made possible with the support of the Trillium Foundation.  This will be the only theatre in Toronto with this type of hearing system.  It is a special type of sound system for use by people with hearing aids and more information will be available shortly.

They have introduced many innovations over the past 60 years to ensure they continuously engage audiences and members in fun and exciting ways.  Find out more about Scarborough Players by following their adventures on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram.  You can get involved by seeing a production, volunteering, participating in an improv workshop, meeting actors during wine and cheese receptions and more.

Scarborough Players was founded by the late John Caldwell. They originally performed at the Club Top Hat on Kingston Road and the old Frigidaire Building on Eglinton.
