43 Division Celebrating Police Week with the Community

On Saturday May 21 The Team at 43 Division celebrated “Police Week” in partnership with the Toronto Police Chief’s Youth Advisory Committee and The Good Guides. The Cornell, Danzig, West Rouge, Heron Park and Woburn communities all came together to join in. The annual tradition, this year held at Terrace Cornell Junior Public School,  focuses on increasing community awareness and is an opportunity to highlight the important work our police services do to protect our communities. The theme for this years campaign is “Connected to our Communities”.  TPS officers were on hand to highlight some of the services available to the public other than traditional law enforcement.  The focus of the event said Zenon Costa Correia, Sargeant 43 Division Neighbourhood Officer Unit,  ” it’s the TPS, just reaching out to the community, come out and meet us, get to know us. And we’re showcasing what services we have and how we can assist the communities. That’s when they call first, these are the services that are available. We have the drone, as you can see, uh, to help with missing, missing elderlys, and also for investigative purposes, we have Crimestoppers, which is also always a good avenue for reaching out. And then we’ve got our ATVs. We also use that to search for people and looking after our parks. We’re also reaching out to communities for people in need and also victim services. Anytime we have issues, anytime we have concerns, what are the impacts on the community and what services they offer after an incident or prior.  A lot of our stuff is being proactive;  prevention”.
