Rescued Animals get a Purr-fect Start

Zach is a black pug that I rescued so I included his story and a photo I took when I first adopted him.

Injured and abandoned animals get a perfect start in life thanks to Mattie’s Place and the generous donations of the Birch Cliff community.

Mattie’s Place was founded in 2019 and is operated by founder Denise Angus. Mattie’s place is unique as it’s not a shelter. All the rescued animals are housed in foster homes where they receive medical treatment, training, and time to recover while being cared for by experienced and loving foster parents. This allows time for human bonding, which best prepares them for their forever homes. Zach, a black pug, spent his first four years of life living in a crate and was neglected by his owner. When found, he was 10 lbs underweight, had a bladder infection, and he had so many flea bites he needed a blood transfusion. Today, he is eight years old, and happy and healthy in his forever home.

Mattie’s Place is much more than a rescue centre. It also houses a storefront where all your pet needs from bedding, bowls, toys, and snuggly beds can be purchased at a fraction of the retail cost. Mattie’s Place not only provides savings for their customers, but also donates the proceeds to care for the needs and medical costs of the rescue animals.

If you’re interested in providing a forever home to one of the many animals in foster care or want to make a contribution of any kind to support the 200 pets rescued each year, contact Mattie’s Place at info@mattiesplace.ca.

If you already have a pet, consider shopping at Mattie’s Place located at 159 Fallingbrook Rd and help an animal in need.
